AI Policy

Authors

Authors are responsible for the originality, validity and integrity of the content of their entries. Journal authors are expected to use generative AI tools responsibly and in accordance with our Publication Ethics. This includes reviewing the results of any generative AI tools and confirming the accuracy of the content.
The journal Economics and Environment supports the responsible use of generative AI tools that adhere to high standards of data security, confidentiality, and copyright protection in cases such as:
• Idea generation,
• language improvement,
• Interactive online search,
• classification of literature.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the content of their submissions meets the required standards of rigorous scientific and academic evaluation, research, and validation, and is author-created.
Generative AI tools cannot be credited as authors, as such tools cannot assume responsibility for uploaded content or manage copyrights and license agreements.
Authors must explicitly acknowledge in the article any use of generative AI tools through a statement that includes: the full name of the tool (along with the version number), how it was used, and the reason for use. In the case of submitting articles, this statement must be included in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
Authors should not submit manuscripts in which generative AI tools have been used in a way that replaces the basic responsibilities of the researcher and author, for example:
• generate text or code without rigorous corrections,
• generate synthetic data to replace missing data without a robust methodology,
• generating any inaccurate content, including abstracts or supplementary materials.
Such cases may be subject to editorial investigation.
The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in any part of the research process should always be done under human supervision and in a transparent manner. The Research Ethics Guidelines continue to be updated for current generative AI technologies.

Editors and reviewers

The journal Economics and Environment strives for the highest editorial integrity and transparency standards. As such, editors and reviewers cannot upload files, images, or information from unpublished manuscripts to generative AI tools. Failure to comply with this policy may infringe the intellectual property rights of the rights holder.
Reviewers should not use generative AI to analyse or summarise submitted articles or parts of them when creating their reviews.
