Abstrakt
The issue of greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption has remained a major challenge for the European Union. In response, the EU has set itself the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 and becoming completely carbon neutral by 2050. Energy transition is crucial for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring agricultural sustainability, and improving energy security. The main aim of this study is to assess the progress made in the transition to renewable energy sources in agriculture in the Eastern European Union countries. This study has used a data review method to examine the transition to renewable energy in agriculture in the Eastern European Union countries, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, for the period between 1993 and 2022. The results have shown that the transition to renewable energy in agriculture has been relatively slow in Romania, Croatia, Estonia, Bulgaria, and Hungary.
